Which jet for your Cabo trip?

Two questions decide it: how many of you are going, and how far it is to SJD from your home airport. This guide covers both.

How far is SJD from you?

Straight-line distances, rounded. Real routes are a little longer, and headwinds on the way home matter too.

Light jets

Six to eight seats in a cabin about 4.8 to 4.9 feet tall, with space for soft bags and a set or two of golf clubs. From California, Arizona, Texas and Colorado, a light jet reaches Cabo nonstop in two to three hours, which makes it the most popular choice for western trips.

Midsize jets

A taller cabin of about 5.7 feet, a proper lavatory and more luggage space, on the same routes as a light jet. Worth the step up for a group of five or more, or for anyone who likes to stand and stretch.

Super-midsize jets

With 3,200 to 4,000 nautical miles of range and a six-foot cabin, these fly New York to Los Cabos nonstop. For eight to ten people with luggage they are also the most comfortable way down from anywhere in the US.

For big groups

Large-cabin jets

Ten to sixteen seats, separate lounge areas and a full galley. For a wedding party, a family reunion or a group of golfers, one large cabin is often simpler than two smaller aircraft.

Price

What shapes the cost of a Cabo trip

Flight hours

The biggest factor. Hours flown both ways, at the aircraft's hourly rate.

Repositioning and waiting

If the aircraft stays in Cabo, daily minimums and crew hotels apply. If it flies home between legs, those positioning flights are priced instead.

International fees

Airport, handling and border fees on both sides, plus the operator's permits.

Extras

Catering, Wi-Fi and anything special you ask for, listed separately in the quote.
